Yep. 7 years old. Unbelievable how fast time flies when you are having...sleepless nights and hectic days full of unexpected joys and sorrows, and...fun. Look at that girl enjoying all the attention. Beautiful!
We had fun at Madelin's party. No really - we actually did. The children produced less frenetic energy than usual since they had just had a week's vacation from school (note to self - always plan party during school vacations), and we were more relaxed because we had to throw the whole thing together in two days. Julia, a classmate, got her invitations out before us for the Wednesday afternoon we had in mind (Julia's mama is extremely organised. bah.), so Marten made the executive decision to hold the party on Madelin's birthday itself. When I say that "we" had two days to throw the party together, I speak euphemistically. Marten had two days, because I had to work (darn). He is amazing. Truly. He prepared enough games for two parties, including a fabulous photo adventure walk in our neighborhood, and managed to keep 6 little girls and two grown women amused and in good spirits for three hours. I just made the cake and sang and did the washing up. Lest you think I am trying to steal Marten's glory by posting a photo featuring me center stage, I should mention that my parents have not yet seen me in glasses... so, ta da!!! What do you think?!
